Path Layout TutorialIt's happened to all of us: you make a large park, when all of a sudden a bunch of the peeps get lost. They all happen to be in the same general area too. Why did this catastrophe happen to you? Your path layout is not optimal for the peeps and so they can't find their way in your park. Below I will tell you how to lay out your paths so that your peeps will never get lost. The Way a Peep Thinks To find out why a peep gets lost, you must first get into their heads and find out how their tiny minds work. The way a peep navigates in a park is quite simple. The peep will head in the direction that his destination is in. If he is directly North of a ride he wants to get to he will try to head straight South. If he cannot head straight toward a target he will stray from his line a bit, but not much. He will try going right or left a bit until he can find a route that will lead him South. He might possibly go North a small distance, but I wouldn't count on it. If his target is Southwest, he will try to go left and/or down, he won't understand where to go if he has to go up or right. Here are some examples of good and bad path designs. Examples: On these examples the box on the bottom of the image is the park entrance, or the destination of the peep. The black lines are the paths. This path has no problem areas. No matter where on the paths you are, you can always come back to the entrance by following the paths without having to go in a direction away from the destination. This path layout has developed some problems. If a peep is on one of the legs that points down, he'll have a problem getting to the entrance because the entrance is below him, and he would need to walk up to get to where he wants to go. This can easily be fixed though. Here is the answer to your previous problem. If you just connect the legs directly to the main path, it allows the peeps to go down toward the entrance and then go right to the main path. Now you also have a nice grid pattern that is organized, which will not only help the peeps, but will help you. You just had the big grid, but you need some more space, so you can just branch off of it. Just remember, don't make legs pointing down off of the branches without connecting them to the center cluster. I hope that this has helped you understand why those peeps keep getting lost.
