First off, we have a roller coaster. Look at the stats. Not very exciting, is it? Well, this tutorial is here to help you understand the things you can do to change that, without changing the coaster itself. First of all, put part of the coaster underground. To do that with an already made coaster, you need to first close the ride, then delete some track pieces that you would like to bury. Then you need to raise some land at least 10 ft above the height of the track that is getting buried. Now all you need to do is rebuild the parts of the track that you deleted and stick them through the raised earth.

See how I have some of the track underground? Also notice the Excitement increase. The excitement jumped up by three tenths. This is a considerable jump but it isn't huge. For the next excitement increase all we will do is add the paths. This change is required but check out what it does to the excitement!

The excitement jumped up twenty-two hundredths! This coming from some puny little paths that you need anyway. You can add some stalls and things in the areas where I circled, which will also build the excitement, but I did not really feel like putting into the picture. Another trick you can use is to put another roller coaster next to the one you already have. A good choice would be to make a mirror version of the one you are using if the stations will connect right, like the picture below. Adding another coaster can help the excitement go up quite a bit but it's expensive.

If you make the coasters race each other, the excitement will go up again. Now the next trick is something that everybody should know. Add scenery. This is the most basic and one of the cheapest means of gaining excitement. You don't neccessarily need to make it look good, but if you have to you can.

I just added some water spouts and a bunch of trees. Looks don't have an effect on how much the rating is increased because the computer doesn't have any concept of beauty. There is one last way to increase excitement that can give you two advantages. Place a gentle or thrill ride underneath the coaster. This will increase the excitement of both the small ride and the roller coaster. Check it out.

All of these methods are useful and will increase the excitement of your ride, but not all are possible for all rides. Choose the method that will best help you in each individual situation and use it to your advantage. Good luck and use this knowledge to make the most exciting rides in the game.
